CAPPADONNA SEEKS TRANSITION

Wu-Tang extended family member, Cappadonna, will return to CD players in 2006, with his new album "Transition", which will be released independently via Honey Soul Music. The new LP features production from Pete Rock, Large Professor, and Iron Shiek, among others. Cap will touch upon his expeciences, both good and bad, with The Wu Tang Clan, the time he spent homeless and driving a cab to make ends meet and how he survived and triumphed over his struggle to become a stronger, wiser and more spiritual man.

Rock & Roll Hall of Fame overlooks hip-hop nominees <- click!

Rock and Rock Hall of Fame voters have chosen an eclectic new class broad enough to encompass jazz trumpeter Miles Davis and punk group Sex Pistols, but they once again snubbed rap.

For a second consecutive year, hip-hop??€s prime candidate, Grandmaster Flash, failed to gather the necessary support from the 700 rock historians overseeing the nominee selection.

??€?Rap is the most important cultural phenomenon this country has ever exported,??€? said hip-hop mogul Russell Simmons on Monday. ??€?I shudder to think that an institution like the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame can continue to exist and ignore hip-hop.??€?

??€?It??€s blasphemous,??€? added Public Enemy frontman Chuck D. ??€?We can??€t afford to have another piece of Black art history go undocumented.??€?

Artists are eligible for nomination 25 years after releasing their first recording, and so musicians who debuted in 1980 could now be elected, although the hall??€s committee included no new names from that year.

Grandmaster Flash could not be reached for comment Monday, but Simmons said his omission isn??€t entirely bad news.

??€?As soon as jazz, blues and rock ??€?n??€ roll became accepted by the mainstream, they suddenly became ??€¦ less shiny,??€? he said. ??€?If the trend of mainstream acceptance killing musical genres and cultural phenomenons continues, hip-hop can stay as far away from the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as possible.??€?

J-ZONE & CELPH TITLED: WHO'S THE BO$$?
Hogs up, ho's down, biiitch! J-Zone & Celph
Titled's side group project, Bo$$ Hog Barbarian$,
is complete. The album is called Every Hog Has
It's Day and it will be released independently in
March 2006 on Mt. Kill-A-Ho/Hog Cabin Ent., their
own label. So what does J-Zone have to say about
all this?

"This ain't a thrown together collabo project
done in one weekend, it was a one year process and
we're an actual group."

The album is produced entirely by J-Zone & Celph
Titled, with one beat from Da Beatminerz. The
first single will be "$teady $mobbin'" b/w "Celph
Destruction" which drops February 2006. Both songs
produced by J-Zone. The b-side is a Celph Titled
solo track"Hog Luv", an album cut, which is
available on Preemptive Hype Bol. 10, and floatin
around the internet.

abia astepttttt... hog luv foreverrrrrr

I like Termanology because he dedicates his rhyming ability with the beats and these rappers nowadays have no clue or respect for the culture.
- Dj Premier (Gangstarr, Legendary Producer)

Termanology shows he could be a leader of the new school.

Sean Price Preps Monkey Barz Followup

Image

Sean Price is quickly putting the finishing touches on his second solo LP, tentatively titled, "Mighty Flow Young". The album marks the quickest followup LP in the history of the Boot Camp Clik. But which Sean Price will show up for this album? Will it be the ignant broke rapper next door or the gun wielding Decepticon. Sean P answered the question himself stating, "This album is not "Monkey Barz"!!! It's not as funny (cause I wasn't playing this time). It's hard body, to the point." With production from 9th Wonder, Khrysis, and Scram Jones already in the bag and over 75% of the album completed, Jesus Price promises that the album will be the first 2006 BCC classic.

Dilated Peoples Drop New Video, Album in the Works

Image

Cali vets Dilated Peoples are back on the scene with the video for "Back Again", the single from their fourth album 20/20. The video has cameos from B-Real, Alchemist, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu stars, the Gracie Family, among others. After scoring their biggest hit with the Kanye-laced "This Way", Dilated is hitting the lab with their sights set on a return to their artistic roots. "With this record, we wanted to really get back to a real, uncut pure vision and get back to the pure, boom-bap sound", explains Rakaa. Look for the Dilated album in February 2006.
