Woman Loses File-Sharing Court Battle; Must Pay $222,000
The record industry's new hustle? Suing the fans! 30 year old Minnesota woman, Jammie Thomas was ordered to pay fines of $222,000, after being found guilty for illegally sharing copywritten music files via Kazaa software. In the first case of it's kind, representatives from each Sony BMG, Arista Records, Interscope, UMG Recordings, Capitol Records and Warner Bros Records, alleged that Thomas, under the name "tereastarr" had used the Kazaa file-sharing software to share 1,702 songs illegally. While Thomas pleaded not guilty to the charges, saying she had never had an account with Kazaa, an internet security firm had proved otherwise. The court ordered her to pay $9,250 for each of 24 specific songs focused in on the case, for a total of $222,000 in damages. Since 2003, record companies have filed 26,000 lawsuits against illegal file-sharing, with many of the accused settling for a few thousand dollars.

Eu nu stiu de ce va plangeti, nu zice nici el nici nimeni ca "it's the future of hip-hop" E un fel de AMICI sau KIKI RIKI MIKI... Cum a venit asa dispare... This Is Why I'm Hot"... Omu danseaza, striga, altii striga bucurosi dupa el... It's all good... Si a facut si o carca de bani... Bravo lui... Cati n-ar vrea sa danseze asa "aiurea" (daca vreti voi sa-i spuneti asa) pe banii aia?

Rapper Prodigy was in a Manhattan court yesterday (October 4) on gun possession charges following his arrest last fall.

Last October, police found a .22-caliber handgun in the rapper's bulletproof Chevy Suburban after they pulled him over for making a U-turn and heading the wrong way down a one-way street.

According to the New York Post, the two police officers testified yesterday that after stopping the vehicle, they saw Prodigy's hand either on or near the open center console door.

Prosecutors said that alleged gesture and the SUV's heavily reinforced doors and windows gave cops the right to search the vehicle.

Prodigy claims he was unaware that the unlicensed, fully loaded gun was in the center console between himself and producer The Alchemist.

The Queens-bred rapper - one half of the duo Mobb Deep and a member of the G-Unit camp - faces up to 15 years in prison for the charges because of his two prior gun possession convictions.

Both Prodigy and The Alchemist were arrested at the scene, but charges against Al have been dismissed.

The defense case is set to begin on Tuesday (October 9).

you just never know when you're living in a golden age.

soulja boy - entertainment pentru persoane "sarace" .. oricum dispare in cateva luni .. "certurile" sunt in van

RZA Talks '8 Diagrams,' Wu Launching Nationwide Tour

Coming back for the release of their highly-anticipated album 8 Diagrams isn't the only milestone achieved by revered Hip-Hop collective Wu-Tang Clan.

The group, which re-surfaced last year for a live performance in California, is also returning to its beginnings by reuniting with Loud Records founder Steve Rifkind for the album's release.

Although it has been nearly 15 years, since he last worked with Wu-Tang, Rifkind has kept track of the impact the group and its members have had on the rap community.

"What a thrill to be able to work with Wu-Tang again," said Rifkind, who was instrumental in launching the group's classic debut album Enter the Wu-Tang (36 Chambers). "Over the last few years, the group has developed a whole new following of people in their 20s who never saw them perform."

Founded by the RZA, GZA and the late Ol' Dirty Bastard (O.D.B.), Wu-Tang Clan is noted for creating one of the most distinctive music catalogs in rap history.

Since the release of Enter the Wu-Tang, the group's nine members have gone on to find success through various ventures that include music, acting, scoring films, video games and clothing lines.

8 Diagrams marks the Wu-Tang's return to the rap scene after a six year absence. The first single from the release, titled "My Heart Gently Weeps," is described as "an interpolation" of George Harrison's classic Beatles song, "While My Guitar Gently Weeps."

It features Harrison's son Dhani Harrison, singer Erykah Badu and Red Hot Chili Peppers guitarist John Frusciante.

Fans can now hear the single, which is available exclusively on www.Loud.com.

According to RZA, the timing couldn't be better for him and fellow Wu-Tang affiliates GZA, Method Man, Raekwon the Chef, Ghostface Killah, Inspectah Deck, Masta Killa and U-God to stand united again.

"This is the perfect time for us to get back together, the stars are aligned," said RZA, who added that fans can expect to hear a performance of O.D.B. "in his rawest form" from the vault "which will show you why he was considered one of the illest MCs ever."

O.D.B.'s presence will also be felt on a tribute song titled "Life Changes."

"Hopefully, it will provide some closure for the fans," RZA said about the completed track.

To promote 8 Diagrams, Wu-Tang Clan will embark on a month-long U.S. tour that kicks off Oct. 20 in Miami, which runs through the group's final tour stop in Hawaii on Nov. 23.

Wu-Tang Clan's 8 Diagrams, which will be released on Loud Records through Universal Records, is slated to hit stores on Dec. 4.

THE NEW PROJECT BETWEEN CAPITAL Q (AKA Q-UNIQUE) AND FIELDY FROM KORN

Straight out of Brooklyn, NY comes Capital Q (whose credits include: "Q-Unique" and "The Arsonists"), joining forces with metal bassist Fieldy. Fieldy being part of the world renowned group Korn, and Q who is a respected M.C. in the independent Hip Hop movement are collaborating to bring you a brand new album - that is yet to be titled, under the movement called Street Metal. The album carefully combines the two extreme components of Hip-Hop & Metal creating a sound of its own, with features that include artists like Clint Lowery from “Dark New Day”, to Grammy Award winning R&B/Rap producer Polar Bear.

Q and Fieldy set off their collaboration with the single/video they produced "Killing Myself To Live", a song that captures the mind state of a Rock Star gone wrong.

The revolution has begun....Street Metal...
