Re: YOUNG JEEZY - TM 103 (Thug Motivation 103: Hustlerz Ambi

Thug Motivation 103: Hustlerz Ambition is the upcoming fourth studio album by American rapper Young Jeezy, set to be released on December 20, 2011 through Corporate Thugz Enterainment and Def Jam Recordings. The album has been delayed for nearly two years, missing several purported release dates[1][2] which have all been denied by representatives from Def Jam Records:[1] however, despite these setbacks, Young Jeezy himself has confirmed the album has definitely been completed.[1] The album marks the third album in his Thug Motivation series, after Let's Get It: Thug Motivation 101 (2005) and The Inspiration (2006).
After initially being announced in 2009, the album has been delayed for nearly two years and missed several release dates attached to it, including June 2010,[2] August 2010,[2] December 2010,[2] and July 26, 2011 – exactly six years to the release date of his debut studio album, Let's Get It: Thug Motivation 101.[1] Def Jam Records representatives have since declared these rumours false: however, Young Jeezy announced through the social networking site Twitter that the album was definitely completed, although at the time a release date – genuine or not – was not attached to the album.[1] The date given was, in fact, the day after Young Jeezy was due to perform the whole of his aforementioned debut album at New York City's Highline Ballroom, on the sixth anniversary of the release of the album. During the show on July 25, 2011, he announced that Thug Motivation 103 would be released on September 20, 2011.[3] However, Young Jeezy has since revealed that the album's release date is December 20, 2011.
The album's first single, "Lose My Mind", was released as a digital download on March 30, 2010. The song is produced by American record producer Drumma Boy, and features fellow American rapper Plies. The song peaked at number thirty-five on the Billboard Hot 100 in the United States,[5] number six on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart[6] and number three on the Hot Rap Songs chart.[7] The song was nominated for Best Rap Performance By Duo or Group at the 53rd Grammy Awards. During 2010, two more singles were released from the album: "All White Everything", featuring fellow American rapper Yo Gotti on July 3, 2010, and "Jizzle", featuring Lil Jon, on August 3, 2010. The songs peaked at number eighty-two and number sixty-nine on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart respectively: however, neither song appears on the final tracklisting.
"Ballin'" was released as a digital download in the United States on May 17, 2011.[8] The song features fellow American rapper Lil Wayne, and is produced by American producer Lil' Lody. The song peaked at number fifty-seven on the Billboard Hot 100, number fifteen on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart and number thirteen on the Rap Songs chart. The music video, directed by Colin Tilley,[9] was officially released on July 9, 2011. However, in the aforementioned Hot 97 interview, Young Jeezy revealed that the song was not a single from the album, although the song is still set to be included on the album. In the same interview, Young Jeezy revealed the album's second single, titled "Shake Life": the song was later premiered during the show. It was released to the internet on July 22, 2011, and was later released to iTunes as a digital download on August 2, 2011.[10] The song features production, again, from record producer Lil' Lody. The song features a sample from the Toto song "Georgy Porgy".[11] The song debuted at number seventy-six on the Hot R&B/Hip Hop Songs chart in the United States for the week ending August 6, 2011.[12] Since then it has peaked at number forty-six. "F.A.M.E.", featuring rapper T.I., was released as the album's third single on October 11, 2011.[13] On November 1, 2011, ".38" was released as the next single off the album. It is produced by Lil' Lody.

Young Jeezy Denies Beef With Rick Ross

While visiting MTV’s RapFix Live to talk about his upcoming fourth solo album, Thug Motivation 103: Hustlerz Ambition, Atlanta rapper Young Jeezy explained that although there were subliminal and apparent friction between Rick Ross and him, there was never actual beef.
“With rap, it’s a funny thing. You can say things, and people can take ‘em the way they wanna take ‘em,” Jeezy said, addressing “Death B4 Dishonor,” the 2010 cover of Rick Ross’ “B.M.F.” track that is noted for including subliminal jabs towards the Miami rapper.
“But in my mind, in my heart, I just killed the verse. If I killed the verse and you took it personally, then that’s on you.”
Rick Ross also took offense to the video clip that went viral, where there more perceived jabs at the rapper.
“I feel like the whole started thing from a clip on WorldStarHipHop, and my thing was, if I’m a and you a boss, let’s sit down and be bosses,” he said.
“You take a clip that somebody edited and run with that? What part of the game is that? If you felt like that, hit me up, let’s chop it up, we bosses.”
After coming into contact with Ross at the BET Hip Hop Awards, Jeezy said he didn’t take the Miami rapper’s decline to exchange words personal.
“I felt like it was about selling records,” Jeezy said. “It’ not about you about me. We could’ve stepped in the corner and chopped it up. So right then and there, I knew it was about records, so I was cool with it.”

Review: Young Jeezy – Thug Motivation: 103

Ebbs and flows, peaks & valleys, common traits of success in music. In a genre where the flame flickers in and out faster than any other, sustaining longevity is an absolute must. When whispers of your demise or better yet your lapping turn into screams and cries, you’re backed into a corner and begged to come out swinging.
Since 2005, Young Jeezy has carried the image of the trap and the streets of America on his back. The daily movement has led to three platinum plaques, countless adlibs tossed into the lexicon of hip-hop and enough anthems and mottos to last a lifetime. However, things have been considered bleak for Jeezy. His last LP came three years ago with the critically acclaimed The Recession and in the time between then and now Jeezy’s been an afterthought in the eyes of some. After countless delays, he returns with the third installment in the Thug Motivation series, dark and hungry as ever.
The delays have hindered Jeezy’s momentum but haven’t grinded it to a complete halt. He’s still capable of commanding attention from the opening gun as such with “Waiting” as Lil Lody’s snapping percussion and cheering crowd pave the way for Jeezy to make the kind of remarks which made him a household name. The album maintains the look of a morbid, smoky and hardened trap record, only aligning itself to the radio in brief instances like the Jay-Z & André 3000 featured “I Do”, the return of Devin The Dude with Snoop Dogg on “Higher” and the hyperactive “Supafreak” with 2 Chainz.
Lody, Midnight Black, Drumma Boy and the other assortment of producers grabbed by Jeezy lean on the same sonic landscape: rolling snares, Tyson-style drums and stadium worthy ambiance. The feeling plays heavy on the album’s standout “Trapped” with Jill Scott as Jeezy lets his pent up frustrations roll around for three minutes as Scott adds a bit of Philly soul and emotion out as best she can. Ironically, the neck tie tight pressure cooker of “F.A.M.E.” with T.I. follows as both men under much different circumstances have travelled a road to success and find themselves starring at the bottom, unflinching and unnerved to move.
While TM: 103 is a fine disc by its lonesome, tried & true to the already known Jeezy rhetoric, the deluxe version & previous mixtapes grabbed any of the remaining momentum the album would have had in a broader sense. Gone is early release of “Shake Life”, the chaotic “Ballin” with Lil Wayne relegated to back of the pack status and last year’s sinister “Lose My Mind” grabs Plies but leaves its superior version with Drake in the rearview.
It’s obvious that the Snowman is well prepared to succeed regardless; point is can he still inspire the way he did before? TM: 103 will keep the hood happy and blocks of America with a soundtrack for late nights on the corner but it may still fail to satisfy even the hungriest of Jeezy supporters. Waiting will do that to you.
FINAL SCORE: 3.5
